Board Minutes

Prairie Woods Homeowners Association
Annual Meeting
March 13, 2008, 7:30 p.m.
Bernie’s Pizza

President Sheri Irsik called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Seventeen members of the Association were present and were asked to sign-in.

Sheri asked for additions to the presented agenda and Reed Bennett asked that “New Business” be added. This occurred.

The minutes of the last PWHOA meeting were presented. Reed Bennett moved and Bruce Werth seconded the minutes be approved. Motion carried.

As it was time for re-election of officers, Sheri presented a slate of officers to the membership. This included:
Debby Werth – President
Jennifer Yarnold – Vice President
Sharon Madison – Secretary
Peggy Bennett – Treasurer
Dana Plagman – Special Events Chair
Bruce Werth – Architectural Committee Chair

Mary Kraus moved and Don Madison seconded a motion that the slate of officers be approved. Motion carried.

Dana Plagman gave the Treasurer’s Report. She reported the Association had spent $3,348.13 last year. She presented a budget of $4250 for 2008. After discussion among members, it was decided to amend the budget figures as follows: Office supplies, $500; eliminate $200 for National Night Out; Garage sales, $100. With these changes, the total budget would be reduced to $3750. Mary Kraus moved that the budget be approved as amended. Bruce Werth seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Debby Werth announced the winners of the drawing that occurred among the homeowners who paid their dues on time this year. Winners were Kenneth & Jennifer Kester (10110 Prairie Woods) and Russell & Tammie Frost (2321 S. Leecrest). The Kesters were at the meeting so were able to pick up their certificate then.

Bruce Werth had gone to talk to the homeowners at 2301 S Westgate who wanted to construct a fence to fence in their back yard. After much discussion, it was decided that the fence was approved but Bruce was to go back to the homeowners to see if they would keep their fence (along Haskell Street) 10 feet from the curb for visibility sake. He agreed to do so. Dana Plagman moved and Reed Bennett seconded that the fence be approved with the provision the fence would be kept 10 feet back from the Haskell Street curb. Motion carried.

Peggy Plagman discussed the upcoming Easter Egg Hunt and asked for volunteers to arrive about 12:30 p.m. to help set up. Sheri’s daughter had stuffed more than 1000 eggs so she felt that part was taken care of. But she did need help on the day of the event.

The Annual PWHOA Garage Sale weekend was set for June 19, 20 & 21. The Board would determine Spring and Fall Neighborhood clean-up event dates. We still want to investigate getting a dumpster for large items. Neighborhood Night Out was nationally scheduled for Tuesday, August 5th.

Curb address numbers were discussed. It was decided this activity would move forward. Dana will give Debby the information and Debby will follow-up on if the gentleman is still interested in doing this and what the cost would be.

Juan Campos reported he was having some drainage problems in the area behind his home as a result of some work the City had done in the empty lot behind him. The Architectural Committee agreed to talk with him after the meeting to see what could be done to help.

With no further business, the meeting adjourned.
